Oncology Pharmacy Tech Specialist

About the role

The Pharmacy Tech Specialist – Home Infusion Department is part of the Home Infusion team at Trinity Health Ann Arbor. This department specializes in preparing, dispensing, and administering medications through various infusions to patients requiring complex treatments.

Responsibilities

• Prepares IV admixtures for home infusion patients
• Interprets and follows complicated compounding formulas
• Maintains knowledge of all equipment used in clean room and policy and procedures associated with them
• Maintains advanced knowledge of IV stability and storage issues
• Maintains advanced knowledge of prescription labeling information
• Prepares Hazardous Drugs for home infusion patients
• Maintains competencies related to hazardous drugs handling and preparation
• Interprets and follows complicated directions for mixing hazardous drugs
• Performs sterile IV compounding with complex formula for home infusion patients
• Maintains patient records for delivery ticket confirmation, ABN; which are required prior to claim submission
• Thins patient charts, files nursing notes and other paperwork to maintain patient records
• Affixes supplies for deliveries and schedules deliveries

Requirements

• Minimum of six months specialized training beyond high school
• Minimum 1 year experience in sterile compounding, previous home infusion pharmacy experience preferred
• Licensure as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Michigan is required

Qualifications

• Education: Minimum of six months specialized training beyond high school
• Experience: Minimum 1 year experience in sterile compounding, previous home infusion pharmacy experience preferred
• Licensure / Certification: Licensure as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Michigan is required

Skills

• Ability to perform algebraic calculations necessary for the IV admixtures and hazardous drugs preparation
