About the role
Hooper Detox provides both 24/7 inpatient and outpatient withdrawal management and stabilization services for people seeking treatment for substance use disorders. This position supports the Nursing staff in the subacute detoxification process.
Responsibilities
- Provide support in maintaining a calm, quiet and orderly subacute environment by utilizing verbal and physical de-escalation skills.
- Attend RN shift report when requested.
- Give shift report to the on-coming staff.
- Work closely with the RN during admissions process to facilitate a time and procedure effective admission for each patient upon their arrival to the subacute area.
- Provide each patient admitted with appropriate information and program orientation.
- Aid RN by taking patient’s vital signs as requested, record and chart per procedure during medication pass.
- Inform nursing staff of any unusual vital signs.
- Open and close showers, turn phones and lights on and off at their designated times.
- Chart on patients at least once per shift.
- Restock supplies for patients and staff as needed.
- Do bed check census on night shift. Make rounds of dorm areas, day room and restrooms/monitor patients.
- Keep work area sanitized, clean and neat. Sanitize mattresses; make beds and clean bed stands when needed.
- Provide patient support while in subacute program for group, acupuncture and meal participation.
- Report and document incidents as described in policies and procedures.
- Monitor patient and chart patient activities.
- Complete patient count during scheduled intervals of shift.
- Inventory, wash, sort, store and distribute patients clothing.
- Keep and maintain an adequate supply of linens.
- Follow procedures for the disinfecting and sanitizing of laundry items.
- Adhere to all state and federal privacy regulations, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, and to CCC policies and agreements regarding confidentiality, privacy, and security.
- Support compliance with all privacy and security requirements pursuant to community partners’ and outside providers’ patient confidentiality agreements, including privacy and security requirements for EMR access.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience (must meet one of the following): HSD/GED AND one (1) year of work experience in a related field (e.g. shelter, residential or day treatment, counseling, substance abuse treatment); OR HSD/GED AND two (2) years of in-person, high-volume customer service experience or two (2) years of volunteer experience in a related field which would be considered half-credit (e.g. 4 years of customer service in a non-medical office setting would be considered 2 years credit; 2 years volunteer in related field is considered 1 year); OR Associate’s degree in Social Services, Behavioral Health, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field; OR Bachelor’s degree in any field.
- Must read and write and have legible handwriting.
- Current CPR certification prior to start.
- Current Adult First Aid Certification prior to start date.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.
- Knowledge of computer skills.
- Preferred vital sign experience.
- Bilingual (Spanish, Russian) preferred.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen, TB test, and DHS background check.

- Knowledge of de-escalation methods or ability to be trained.
- Knowledge of and physical ability to restrain a combative patient or ability to be trained.
- Must have the desire to relate effectively with the chemically dependent person as they detox.
Pay
$22.71/hr
Schedule
Shifts can be offered from Sunday - Saturday at the following times: 6:45am-3:15pm, 2:45pm-11:15pm or 10:45pm-7:15am
