On-call Radiation Therapist

Position Summary

Essential Functions

• Safely & effectively operate a variety of computerized simulation & treatment machines.
• Maintains working knowledge of and adheres to all universal precautions and principles of radiation safety.
• Accurately records all treatment data in patient’s electronic medical record.

Working Conditions

• Normal office working conditions where there is no physical discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise and the like.
• Low risk of exposure to radiation.

Required Education

• Bachelor’s Degree Required.
• Comprehensive knowledge of radiation therapy acquired through accredited radiation therapy program required.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Current American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) certification in radiation therapy or registry eligible (must obtain certification within 6 months).
• Minimum of 1 year clinical work in a radiation therapy department.
• Previous experience in health care environment highly desirable.
• Must have or be able to obtain BLS certification.
• Excellent interpersonal skill to interact effectively with management, employees, peers and the general public.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret, comprehend and complete complicated and detailed projects in a timely manner.
• Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and work independently.
• High degree of integrity to keep confidential all information related to WMCC patients, employees, physicians, and institution related information.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally to waist-high level.
• Requires assisting patients up to 420 pounds utilizing safe lifting techniques & equipment provided.
• Requires sitting/standing for long period of time.
• Manual dexterity required to use computer keyboard or other office equipment.
• Excellent visual and auditory acuity necessary.
