About the Role
This position involves applying ionizing radiation to patients in accordance with radiation oncologist prescriptions, with minimal supervision. The therapist prepares treatment rooms, ensures safety protocols, monitors patients during treatments, and maintains accurate records. They assist in simulations, dosimetry, and equipment checks, while providing patient education and support.
Responsibilities
- Delivering prescribed radiation therapy accurately
- Checking prescriptions and patient identification
- Explaining procedures and monitoring patient reactions
- Preparing equipment and treatment areas
- Assisting in simulations and dosimetry
- Performing machine calibrations and documenting treatments
- Maintaining departmental organization and equipment functionality
- Performing clerical duties and obtaining imaging reports
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Radiologic Science
- Certification from AART and Massachusetts radiation license
- BLS certification
- At least 1 year of radiation therapy experience (3+ preferred)
- Strong knowledge of anatomy
- Excellent communication, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
- Physical ability to lift up to 35 lbs and perform manual tasks
- Ability to respond calmly to changing conditions and work collaboratively
