On-Call Per Diem Substitute Teachers
About
Tenacre is a small school with 211 students in Pre-Kindergarten through 6th Grade and a staff of 60. There are two homeroom teachers for every grade, plus special subject teachers for science, Spanish, art, technology, library, music, and P.E. Tenacre also has learning specialists for reading and math. Tenacre employs its own facilities staff and works with FLIK Dining Services for meals. Supporting the school's operations are the academic, admissions, business, and development offices.
The school has a warm, friendly work environment. All staff are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities throughout the year, from community service projects with students to talking with the students about a hobby or trip during an assembly, or even attending "tadpole graduation" with the third grade in the spring! Everyone on the staff works to enhance the children's learning experience, from direct teaching to maintaining the facilities to providing a nutritious lunch each day. All staff are considered valuable members of the Tenacre community.
Qualifications
- Successful candidates will have some experience teaching, effective and respectful class management skills, be team-oriented, and possess flexibility and a strong work ethic
- Experience with Google Docs and Google Classroom is helpful but not required, as we will train the successful candidates.
- Bachelor’s degree required
Responsibilities
- Substitute teachers are expected to deliver lessons prepared by Tenacre Country Day School faculty, organize the classroom environment, and establish routines that support children’s learning.
- Additional duties will be assigned, including lunch/recess and dismissal.
