Responsibilities
- Follow instructions from the Director of Banquets, Banquet Captain, and F&B managers while remaining flexible with duties.
- Establish guest contact, anticipate needs, and fulfill special requests.
- Set up meeting rooms as required and work proactively to plan and complete daily tasks.
- Provide timely service, including clearing or bussing tables, buffets, or stations according to event format.
- Inform guests about food and beverage offerings (plated menu, buffet, etc.).
- Bartend during events, handle POS and credit card systems, and use the Accubar inventory system for alcoholic beverages.
- Set up bars to meet the highest service standards and ensure compliance with Californian liquor license regulations.
- Perform pre- and post-shift tasks, including station preparation, polishing glassware/silverware, and cleaning/restocking supplies (sugar caddies, salt/pepper shakers, napkins).
- Set up events by arranging tablecloths, place settings, table placement, and buffets.
- Carry plates on trays, serve guests, keep glasses filled, remove plates, and replenish utensils.
- Perform cleaning tasks, breakdown service, clear trash, and restock equipment after dishwashing.
- Maintain and clean shelves, coolers, and storage areas in the Banquet space.
- Demonstrate knowledge of food waste triage and operate the ORCA machine for food waste handling.
- Report equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs (e.g., fridges, coolers, toasters).
- Participate in safety, security, and service training; comply with all policies and procedures.
- Communicate professionally and maintain positive working relationships.
- Prepare equipment, beverages, and setups according to BEO (Banquet Event Order) and client requirements.
- Serve events based on assigned position, respecting service standards and sequences.
- Ensure guest well-being throughout events and maintain tidy back-of-house spaces.
- Return beverage stock to storage, ensuring accountability via the Accubar system.
- Adhere to health, safety, and Californian food/beverage service regulations.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the hotel industry, specifically in restaurant or banquet departments of luxury hotels.
- Strong knowledge of food and beverage offerings across outlets.
- Mandatory certifications: Food Handler and TIPS training.
- Understanding of Californian regulations for alcohol service (if applicable).
- Basic math skills, including percentage calculations.
- Effective communication in English; Spanish is a plus.
- Ability to take ownership, follow directions, and work independently.
- Passion for guest service and pride in serving others.
Pay
$16.90 per hour, plus tips.
