About the role

The Ombudsman I provides routine mediation and customer assistance to resolve concerns, disputes, and complaints related to agency programs and services.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake, log and track cases
  • Respond to inquiries
  • Explain rules and procedures
  • Assist customers via phone, email, or in person
  • Facilitate communication between parties
  • Review documentation
  • Document case actions
  • Refer complex cases to higher staff

Qualifications and Skills

Knowledge of relevant laws, customer service, conflict resolution, mediation principles, office procedures, and record management. Strong communication, problem-solving, multitasking, and confidentiality skills. Ability to explain procedures clearly, analyze information, and apply policies.

Requirements

At least one year of experience in dispute resolution, investigations, counseling, or related fields; academic credits or internships may count.
