Office Support Clerk (DOH/PHD/NE #11532)
Why does the job exist?
The Office Clerk Operational position provides clerical support for the Health Services Program at the Santa Fe Public Health Office. This role requires travel throughout the NE Region to cover staffing shortages at various offices.
How does it get done?
- Maintain provider schedules and confirm appointments
- Update client contact and insurance information
- Maintain medical records
- Document proof of income
- Collect payments when applicable
- Utilize electronic records systems, including Medicaid portal, NMSIIS, TransAct, and maintain required reports
- Provide additional support required within their scope of practice
Who are the customers?
The office clerk position serves the population of Santa Fe County and the NE Region (Colfax, Guadalupe, Harding, Los Alamos, Mora, Rio Arriba, San Miguel, Santa Fe, Taos and Union Counties). They support the functions of medical providers, nurses, clerks, and other program staff to achieve common public health goals in Santa Fe County and may be called upon to travel throughout the Northeast Region or to other parts of the state on occasion.

- Spanish-speaking is a plus
Minimum Qualification
No prior experience or training required.
Employment Requirements
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License
- Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certification from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive certification as a condition of continued employment
Working Conditions
- Work in an office setting with direct client contact
- Occasional travel to other Northeast Region Local Health Offices

- Bending, filing involving stooping & reaching
