About the Role
Manages and coordinates the operational activities of a funeral home, cemetery, and/or crematory operation. Ensures the highest quality services and products to satisfy client families, maximizes budgeted profit plans, and maintains a positive employee relations atmosphere.
Responsibilities
- Oversee accounting functions including collections of accounts receivable, verification and payment of accounts payable, and cash management (petty cash, deposits, reconciliations).
- Track Capital Expenditure Authorizations (CEAs) and verify/audit cash disbursement reports.
- Order supplies, coordinate merchandise orders (memorials, caskets, urns), and manage inventory for vaults, markers, and storage.
- Oversee processing of funeral-related orders, work orders, and scheduling for ambulate services and drivers.
- Complete and file funeral/cemetery reports accurately and support sales with JD Powers understanding.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, including Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) audits, Dignity University (DU) training, and Interment Verification Training (IVT) audits.
- Assist in preparing funeral/cemetery-related forms and review time cards for payroll administration.
- Administer local HR processes: new hire paperwork, pre-need sales licenses, employee files, and onboarding.
- Generate monthly reports and stack ranking for key performance indicators.
- Maintain vehicle records, process expense reports, and update General Price Lists (GPLs).
- Manage alarm systems, codes, and functionality.
- Assist with funeral services and "Making Everlasting Memories" (MEMs) as needed.
- Coordinate daily activities with business units and other departments.
- Train associates on policies and procedures.
- Interact with families professionally and compassionately, maintaining and updating customer records.
- Update company website with obituaries and ensure placement in newspapers.
- Foster a collaborative, productive workplace environment that encourages growth and exceeds expectations.
- Use customer feedback to improve administration and associate performance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or completion of a diploma-training program at a college or technical school.
- Two (2) years of bookkeeping, general office, clerical accounting, or Accounts Payable experience.
Skills
- Solid working knowledge of computers, MS Office, email, internet, and basic office equipment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

- Flexibility to function in a fast-paced environment.
Work Conditions
- Professional dress required when in contact with families.
- Sitting continuously for up to 6 hours per day.
- Frequent climbing of stairs to access buildings.
- Physical effort requiring manual dexterity (paperwork, calculators, computers, phone usage).
- Work hours may extend beyond standard as needed.
