Responsibilities
- Answers phone calls and gives general information regarding real property tax questions.
- Has good knowledge of computers and is familiar with the Town of East Hampton's software programs.
- Provides customer service to the public, acts as receptionist at the front counter, gives general information regarding real property tax questions, and answers routine questions.
- Accepts tax payments from residents of East Hampton.
- Inputs tax payments into the Tax Receiver's software system and follows well-defined procedures and proves out personal work and receipts daily.
- Scans files and records.
- Opens, sorts and distributes mail.
- Composes routine letters and types from copy or general instructions; enters data into form letters, memos and forms for the Tax Receiver's office.
- Reviews applications for change of address and processes into Tax Receiver's software system.
- Sorts and files documents, reports, correspondences and other materials.
- Prepares, sorts and stuffs envelopes for various Tax Receiver mailings.
- May perform other related office duties.
Qualifications
Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.
Special Requirements
Candidates must complete a civil service application for submission to and review by the Suffolk County Department of Human Resources, Personnel and Civil Service. The Town of East Hampton complies with the rules and regulations as set forth by the Suffolk County Department of Human Resources, Personnel and Civil Service.
Pay
The hourly rate is $26.0513.
