About the role

The Office of the Registrar at James Madison University is accepting applications for an Office Assistant. The position will be a year-round part-time position working an average of 29 hours per week over the course of a calendar year.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process college transcripts through the workflow process within our document management system.
  • Provide customer service in person and through phone/email.
  • Enter data into PeopleSoft Student Administration System while ensuring data integrity, confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Work closely with students, faculty, staff and parents.
  • Aid in updating the Transfer Credit Equivalence Guide using TES (Transfer Evaluation System).
  • Perform moderately complex processes and exercise independent judgment with minimal supervision.
  • Resolve problems independently, answer questions and interpret and apply policies and procedures.
  • Resolve problems with a high standard for accuracy.
  • Perform back-up duties for other staff as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize a large volume of work.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student record.
  • Ability to work independently but seek advice and direction from supervisor as needed.
  • Ability to serve constituents in personable and efficient manner.

Additional Considerations

  • Knowledge of university and office policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft Student Administration System.

Conditions of Employment

  • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.
  • This is a part-time wage position working up to an average of 29 hours per week over the course of a calendar year with no benefits.
