We are looking for a dependable Office Assistant to support daily administrative and front-desk operations in Hiawatha, Iowa.
About the role
This is a long-term contract opportunity with a flexible schedule of 30 to 40 hours per week, including weekdays and some Saturdays. The ideal candidate will help keep the office organized, provide courteous service to visitors and callers, and assist with document handling and general clerical tasks.
Responsibilities
- Welcome visitors, provide front-desk support, and direct guests to the appropriate onsite contact or area.
- Answer incoming phone calls professionally, respond to routine questions, and relay messages accurately to staff members.
- Scan, organize, and maintain paper and digital records to support efficient office administration.
- Perform a variety of clerical duties such as filing, data entry, document preparation, and general office upkeep.
- Assist with scheduling and coordination of daily activities to help the site run smoothly during operating hours.
- Support testing or office room readiness by moving through designated areas, monitoring activity, and escorting individuals as needed.
- Help maintain office and computer work areas by navigating confined spaces safely and following established procedures.
- Lift, move, and arrange materials or supplies as needed, including items weighing up to 40 pounds.
Requirements
- Previous experience in an office assistant, receptionist, or similar administrative support role.
- Ability to manage inbound calls, greet visitors, and provide attentive customer service in a busy environment.
- Experience with scanning documents, filing, and handling routine clerical and recordkeeping tasks.
- Comfortable standing or remaining seated for extended periods while staying attentive to assigned duties.
- Able to walk throughout the workspace regularly and bend, stoop, and lift up to 40 pounds when required.
- Strong attention to detail, dependable attendance, and the ability to follow site-specific instructions.
- Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to work with office equipment and view screens or monitors clearly.
Schedule
30 to 40 hours per week, including weekdays and some Saturdays.
