Duties

Supervise / Train OA1s.

In a centralized office, the individual will deal with offsite facilities and departments. Other tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform data entry, math or calculations, mail, supply, and inventory functions of the Office
  • Document preparation tasks, answering phones, completing forms, assisting family or residents with billing questions and Insurance information, creating or assisting in the preparation of reports, charts, graphs, and other related activities
  • Aid with training new personnel
  • Perform advanced computer skills and knowledge
  • Make corrections to claims in the Direct Medicare System (DDE) or Medicaid claims in E-Paces.
  • Remain in contact with facility staff for all 4 Veterans Homes
  • Aid providers and vendors with processing bills

Minimum Qualifications

  • Reassignment: Current New York State Department of Health Veterans' Home at Oxford employee with permanent or contingent permanent status as an Office Assistant 2.
  • Transfers: Current New York State employee with one or more years of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55 b/c service in a position eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law to Office Assistant 2. Eligible titles are available at: https://www.cs.ny.gov/businesssuite/title-transfer-matrix.cfm.
  • Promotion Provisional Appointment: In the absence of an eligible list with three or more candidates willing to accept a position, a temporary provisional appointment may be considered. For provisional appointment, candidates must meet one of the following minimum qualifications: Be a current NYS Department of Health employee with one year as an office assistant, clerical, or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 6 or higher.   • Open Competitive HELPS qualifications: If less than three interested and qualified New York State Department of Health employees serving in the direct-line, lower-level title(s) within the agency apply to this opportunity, the agency may make a non-competitive appointment under the NY HELPS program: one year of clerical experience.
