Responsibilities
- Plans and provides occupational therapy treatment programs for each inpatient and outpatient, including evaluation, treatment, or prevention of disability, injury, disease, or other health conditions.
- Treatment may include, but is not limited to, all aspects of ADL, perceptual/cognitive activities, sensori-motor activities, therapeutic craft modalities, splint fabrication, and therapeutic activities.
- Evaluation may include joint range of motion, muscle strength, NDT evaluation, prevocational evaluation, and sensorium.
- Consultation may involve adapting the physical environment for individuals with disabilities and guiding the selection and use of adaptive equipment.
- Fabricates and modifies patient splints, including design, assessment, and monitoring of splints and other orthotic devices.
- Performs activities of daily living, directing and aiding patients in tasks such as transfer training, bed mobility, hygiene, grooming, dressing, and self-feeding.
- Directs and trains patients in the care and use of upper extremity prosthetics, orthotic devices, and assistive/adaptive equipment to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance.
- Consults with other healthcare team members, including physicians, concerning goals and treatment plans.
- Must be amenable to providing coverage at 3 OT sites and participate in weekend and holiday rotation as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.
Schedule
- Monday/Thursday: 11:30 AM – 7:30 PM
- Tuesday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Friday: 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- NYS License or eligible (must be obtained within one year of employment).
- Verification of degree (e.g., diploma or official transcript) is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a licensed Occupational Therapist in acute care and outpatient settings.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $90,515 - $114,795 base. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate’s validated years of comparable experience. Some positions offer annual supplemental pay, such as location pay for UUP, CSEA, and PEF full-time positions ($4,000).

- This position may require the wearing of respiratory protection, which may prohibit the wearing of facial hair.
- This position may be designated as “essential,” requiring employees to remain at work or report to work during institutional emergencies.
- Prior to the start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements:
- Successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine’s Employee Health Services.
- Complete an electronic reference check with a minimum of three professional references.
- Successfully complete a 4-panel drug screen.
- Meet regulatory requirements for pre-employment screenings.
- Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
- The hiring department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination.
