About the Role
The Occupational Therapist provides outpatient rehabilitation services primarily in in-home settings or assisted living facilities for older adults. They evaluate, develop, and implement individualized treatment plans to improve functional abilities, including cognitive skills, mobility, strength, balance, and activities of daily living. The role involves supervising support personnel, documenting patient progress, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care.
Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and document care accurately.
- Facilitate patient participation in therapeutic activities tailored to their needs.
- Supervise therapy assistants and support staff according to regulations.
- Collaborate with team members and referral sources for optimal patient outcomes.
- Ensure a safe environment, maintain equipment, and order supplies.
- Customize adaptive devices and instruct patients in their use.
- Perform reexaminations to modify treatment as needed.
- Promote patient-centered, compassionate care focused on improving independence.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in an ACOTE-accredited occupational therapy program.
- Initial certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
- Valid, unencumbered occupational therapy license in the state.
- Reliable transportation or valid driver’s license.
