Responsibilities

You will:

  • Evaluate each patient's functional abilities and needs, then develop individualized therapy plans in coordination with physicians and the care team.
  • Deliver skilled, evidence-based interventions that promote healing, independence, and quality of life through purposeful, compassionate care.
  • Monitor patient progress, adjust plans as needed, and ensure thorough, timely documentation that reflects quality outcomes.
  • Educate patients and families to build understanding, confidence, and engagement throughout recovery and beyond.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners to ensure seamless transitions of care, safe environments, and exceptional patient experiences.
  • Lead by example—provide guidance to therapy assistants or students and uphold HCA Healthcare’s mission, values, and commitment to excellence.

Requirements

To qualify, you must:

  • Be licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Tennessee.
  • Graduate from an accredited OT program.
  • Have a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate evaluation and care for patient populations served in his/her department.
  • Achieve a deep understanding of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
  • Assess data reflective of the patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs.
  • Achieve the ability to assess and adjust care in coordination with the healthcare team across the continuum.
  • Assess patients/families' ability to learn and incorporate teaching throughout hospitalization and in preparation for discharge.
  • Deliver compassionate, holistic care, while supporting the rights and dignity of all patients.
