About the Role

The Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats patients of all ages, serving as a professional role model and clinical resource for staff and students.

Responsibilities

  • Performing patient transfers safely and demonstrating proper body mechanics.
  • Designing individualized care plans with treatment goals, outcomes, and discharge strategies.
  • Adjusting care based on patient response and current evidence.
  • Educating patients, families, caregivers, students, and healthcare providers using effective teaching methods.
  • Evaluating clinical findings to determine diagnoses and treatment outcomes.
  • Performing examinations and screening patients to assess therapy needs.
  • Utilizing support personnel ethically and legally, monitoring their care, and providing feedback.
  • Documenting evaluations, treatment plans, patient responses, and modifications per policies.
  • Implementing functional intervention activities considering patients' physical and emotional needs.
  • Using standardized outcome measures to reflect functional performance accurately.
  • Collaborating with patients, families, and the healthcare team, providing education and family training as needed.
  • Supervising Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and technicians according to regulations.
  • Communicating patient progress, changes, discharge plans, and equipment needs effectively.

Requirements

  • Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Ability to perform transfers, evaluate clinical findings, and adjust care plans.
  • Strong communication, teaching, documentation, and supervisory skills.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and ethical guidelines.
