Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and treat patients in their home or in an independent living facility.
  • Organize and conduct occupational therapy programs.
  • Direct patient participation in tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance.
  • Facilitate learning of essential skills and functions.
  • Supervise assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel.
  • Adhere to department and patient schedules, document treatments, and attend meetings.
  • Contribute to patient care and team meetings.
  • Make referrals to other disciplines and agencies.
  • Select appropriate therapeutic regimens based on patient needs.
  • Adapt treatment plans as needed.
  • Create a safe environment and enforce safety protocols.
  • Select and train patients in adaptive devices.
  • Select and instruct appropriate activities.
  • Evaluate patient progress and behaviors.
  • Perform routine reexaminations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy from an ACOTE-accredited program.
  • Initial registration from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
  • Valid driver's license or reliable transportation.
