Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) — Skilled Nursing

About the Role

TheraDynamics is a therapist-owned rehabilitation company with over 20 years of experience delivering exceptional patient outcomes across the Tri-State area. We focus on helping patients in skilled nursing settings recover from strokes, hip fractures, cardiac events, and progressive neurological conditions. As an Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will design creative, functional interventions addressing ADLs, cognitive retraining, upper extremity rehabilitation, and safe discharge planning. Your work directly impacts whether a patient returns home or remains in a facility, and we provide the tools, time, and support to make that happen.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Occupational Therapist in performing procedures, tests, and complex treatments to ensure safe and effective patient evaluation and treatment.
• Develop individualized treatment plans focused on functional independence.
• Collaborate with nursing, PT, SLP, and social work teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Address self-care skills, cognitive and perceptual deficits, home safety, adaptive equipment needs, and caregiver training.
• Contribute clinical reasoning in a supportive environment with realistic productivity expectations.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
• Current or eligible for New York State OTA license.
• NBCOT certification (or eligible).
• Passion for helping patients regain independence.
• Strong clinical reasoning and creative problem-solving skills.
