About the Role
At TheraDynamics, our Occupational Therapy Assistants in skilled nursing settings work with patients recovering from strokes, hip fractures, cardiac events, and progressive neurological conditions. You will design creative, functional interventions that address ADLs, cognitive retraining, upper extremity rehabilitation, and safe discharge planning. Your work directly impacts whether a patient returns home or remains in a facility, and we provide the tools, time, and support to make that happen.
Responsibilities
- Assist Occupational Therapists in performing procedures, tests, and complex treatments to ensure safe and effective patient evaluation and treatment.
- Develop individualized treatment plans focused on functional independence.
- Collaborate with nursing, physical therapy, speech-language pathology, and social work teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Address self-care skills, cognitive and perceptual deficits, home safety, adaptive equipment needs, and caregiver training.
- Apply clinical reasoning in a supportive environment with realistic productivity expectations.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Current or eligible for New York State OTA license.
- NBCOT certification (or eligible).
- Passion for helping patients regain independence.
- Strong clinical reasoning and creative problem-solving skills.
