About the Role
Sentara Home Care is seeking a full-time Day Occupational Therapist Assistant. In this role, you may assist in developing treatment plans, carrying out routine functions, and documenting treatment progress within the scope of plans established by an occupational therapist. You will provide age-appropriate education for clients and caregivers, supervise care provided by team members, and perform therapeutic interventions according to accepted standards and department policies. Additionally, you will collaborate with internal and external team members, patients, and families to improve patient outcomes while maintaining productive and efficient daily operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of treatment plans under the supervision of an occupational therapist.
- Carry out routine therapeutic functions and document patient progress.
- Provide age-appropriate education to clients and caregivers.
- Supervise and assume responsibility for care provided by identified team members.
- Perform modalities and therapeutic interventions in accordance with accepted standards of care and department policies.
- Participate in updating formal plans of care to address individual patient needs.
- Deliver effective instruction through standardized educational programs or individualized training.
- Initiate and maintain collaborative interactions with team members, patients, and families to improve patient outcomes.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistance (OTA).
- 1-2 years of clinical experience in an outpatient or Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) setting.
