About the role
The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) provides direct occupational therapy care to patients under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT).
Responsibilities
- Implement and follow individualized treatment plans for patients based on physician referrals.
- Chart patient progress accurately and timely, utilizing therapy software.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Assist in patient evacuation and support safe, effective therapy sessions.
- Maintain professional relationships with patients, families, and support staff.
- Adhere to all safety, sanitation, and confidentiality standards.
- Participate in community health initiatives as appropriate.
Qualifications
- NBCOT certification required; renewal is optional.
- Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program (ASOT).
- Current, active license in applicable state.
- CPR certification upon hire or during orientation.
- Preferred: One year of experience; new grads welcome.
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email.
- Strong communication, decision-making, and body mechanics skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Essential Functions

- Ensure patient safety and confidentiality at all times.
- Maintain dependable attendance and good judgment in daily tasks.
- Communicate effectively within the interdisciplinary team.
- Perform physical activities required for patient care, including lifting and moving patients.
