About the Role

The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) provides direct occupational therapy care in skilled nursing facilities, supporting patients' functional progress and quality of life. Working under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, the COTA implements treatment plans, documents patient progress, and collaborates with an interdisciplinary team. The role involves engaging with a diverse patient population with various orthopedic, neurological, and post-acute needs, ensuring safety, confidentiality, and adherence to regulations. The position emphasizes professionalism, excellent customer service, and effective communication.

Responsibilities

  • Follow prescribed treatment plans and document progress
  • Assist patients in achieving functional goals
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care and community health projects
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and compliance with policies
  • Support patient safety, sanitation, and quality standards
  • Utilize therapy software and communicate effectively with team members

Requirements

  • NBCOT certification and active state licensure
  • Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program
  • Preferred one year of experience; new grads welcomed
  • CPR certification (obtained on hire or during orientation)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and communication skills
  • Knowledge of post-acute care practices, laws, and regulations
  • Strong decision-making, body mechanics, and teamwork abilities
