About the Role
The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) provides direct occupational therapy rehabilitation services under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist in a skilled nursing facility setting. The position involves implementing treatment plans, documenting patient progress, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to support patients with diverse post-acute needs, including long-term care and short-term rehabilitation.
Responsibilities
- Follow occupational therapy treatment plans and document progress accurately
- Assist patients in achieving functional goals and improving quality of life
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members
- Maintain professional and confidential relationships and adhere to company policies
- Participate in community health initiatives as appropriate
- Ensure safety, proper body mechanics, and compliance with regulations
- Demonstrate excellent customer service and dependable attendance
- Perform various physical activities during work
Requirements
- Current NBCOT certification and valid state licensure
- Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program
- CPR certification (or obtain during orientation)
- Maintain active licensure and CPR certification
- Demonstrate good body mechanics and participate in team efforts
- Uphold confidentiality and compliance standards
Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and effective communication skills
- Ability to make independent decisions and demonstrate professionalism
Qualifications
Preferred one year of experience; new graduates are welcome.
