About the role

The Occupational Therapist will provide therapy in the acute care setting including intensive care units and one day per week on the inpatient rehab unit. Experience in the NICU is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, treat, and consult to patients referred to the Nemours Children’s Hospital Therapeutic and Rehabilitation Services Department under the prescription of a physician.
  • Provide care for pediatrics patients aged birth to 21yo, may also require neonatal care.
  • Demonstrate competency in pediatric Occupational Therapy as per department clinical competencies.
  • Assess and develop activities to promote knowledge and professionalism within the department.
  • Mentor occupational therapy students, new staff, support personnel, and volunteers.
  • Attend in-services and continuing education, and provide updates to associates.
  • Participate in professional learning opportunities and contribute to program development.
  • Collaborate with community partners and participate in occupational therapy-related community events.
  • Document therapy services timely as required by departmental policy and standards.
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary discussions related to patient treatment.
  • Understand and adhere to insurance referral and authorization processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy required.
  • Minimum of three (3) months experience required. New graduates will be considered based on educational experiences.
  • Floida State License to practice Occupational Therapy required.
  • American Heart Association BLS Certification required upon hire.
  • Member of professional specialty organizations (AOTA, FOTA) preferred.
  • Prior pediatrics experience preferred.
  • Available for weekend shifts.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends.

Skills

  • Proficiency in pediatric Occupational Therapy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and specialties.
