Occupational Therapist (OTR)

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial and ongoing evaluations of residents’ physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities.
  • Identify barriers to independence and functional performance.
  • Develop and implement individualized, goal-driven OT treatment plans.
  • Address mobility, self-care, social participation, and daily living skills.
  • Support recovery from injury, surgery, illness, or neurological conditions.
  • Assist residents managing chronic conditions such as arthritis, Parkinson’s disease, or post-stroke recovery.
  • Improve performance in activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating.
  • Recommend, train, and educate on adaptive equipment and assistive devices.
  • Promote emotional well-being through stress management and therapeutic activities.
  • Assess environments and recommend safety and accessibility modifications.
  • Educate residents, families, and staff on fall prevention strategies.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including nursing, PT, SLP, and care staff.
  • Participate in care planning meetings to support holistic resident outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation and ensure regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school with a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • License as required by the State of Wisconsin to practice as an Occupational Therapist.
