Job Summary

The Occupational Therapist at Buffalo Hearing & Speech is responsible for providing therapeutic services to children and clients with disabilities, conducting evaluations, creating treatment plans, and collaborating with various professionals.

Essential Functions

  • Conduct evaluations and develop treatment plans based on evaluations and IEPs.
  • Communicate with supervisors and other healthcare providers regarding patient needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other personnel to develop care plans and make recommendations.
  • Document patient care activities, provide references, and convey information through written materials.
  • Recommend purchases of specialized materials, supplies, and adaptive equipment.
  • Transport between multiple sites for educational occupational therapy sessions.
  • Participate in staff training and continuing education programs.

Skills

  • Thorough knowledge of occupational therapy principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of AOTA standards of clinical practice.
  • Sound judgment and maturity in professional conduct.
  • Strong technology and computer skills.
  • Masters degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program.
  • New York State licensed and registered as an Occupational Therapist.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing, sitting, bending, lifting, kneeling, squatting, reaching, crawling, running, twisting, and turning.
  • Adequate vision, speech, tactical, and hearing senses to perform job duties.
  • Frequent sitting and standing, and when appropriate, floor sitting with pediatric patients.
