Job Summary
The Occupational Therapist at Buffalo Hearing & Speech is responsible for providing therapeutic services to children and clients with disabilities, conducting evaluations, creating treatment plans, and collaborating with various professionals.
Essential Functions
- Conduct evaluations and develop treatment plans based on evaluations and IEPs.
- Communicate with supervisors and other healthcare providers regarding patient needs.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other personnel to develop care plans and make recommendations.
- Document patient care activities, provide references, and convey information through written materials.
- Recommend purchases of specialized materials, supplies, and adaptive equipment.
- Transport between multiple sites for educational occupational therapy sessions.
- Participate in staff training and continuing education programs.
Skills
- Thorough knowledge of occupational therapy principles and practices.
- Knowledge of AOTA standards of clinical practice.
- Sound judgment and maturity in professional conduct.
- Strong technology and computer skills.
- Masters degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program.
- New York State licensed and registered as an Occupational Therapist.
Physical Requirements
- Standing, sitting, bending, lifting, kneeling, squatting, reaching, crawling, running, twisting, and turning.
- Adequate vision, speech, tactical, and hearing senses to perform job duties.
- Frequent sitting and standing, and when appropriate, floor sitting with pediatric patients.
