OB Laborist

About the role

As our OB Laborist physician, you will join a dynamic healthcare team in Federal Way, specializing in diagnosing and treating a wide array of women’s health cases, making a significant impact on their lives and families. We practice high quality, evidence-based, and patient-centered medicine. You will provide compassionate and expert care, conducting thorough assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to support the holistic well-being of our patients and their families within Franciscan Medical Group.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24-hour on-site labor and delivery coverage
• Collaborate with Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs) and provide emergency department coverage for gynecologic emergencies and surgeries
• Conduct approximately 120 deliveries per month, including vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, dilation & curettage (D&C), and laparoscopy
• Manage high-risk obstetrics cases

Work environment

Full-time position based at St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way, WA, a 124-bed Level III trauma center. Join a team of 5 OB/GYN physicians, 6 CNMs, and 2 advanced practice providers. St. Francis has a special care nursery capable of caring for infants as young as 32 weeks. Partner facility St. Joseph Medical Center (Level III NICU) is nearby for transfers, with additional partnership with Seattle Children’s for specialty newborn care.

Schedule

Approximately seven 24-hour on-site shifts per month, totaling 91 shifts per year.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution
• Board certification or eligibility in OB/GYN
• Active or eligible license in the state of Washington
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
