Laborer

Responsibilities

• Work effectively with supervisors and peers in the rehabilitation and repair of sewer and storm water lines.
• Operate construction equipment to align, move, and adjust machinery to meet location needs.
• Drive various vehicles (from pickups to tractor-trailer rigs requiring a CDL) to transport crews and equipment to work sites.
• Assist in setting up and cleaning up job sites, including lifting, carrying, and pulling items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Review and assist in reviewing entry and work permits, as well as pre and post-installation videos.
• Enter manholes or confined spaces to cut lines for installation.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, crouch, bend, reach, kneel, crawl, and stretch.
• Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk and hear without visual cues.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to wear a respirator and body harness while entering confined spaces.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• A Class A, B CDL or permit, with Hazmat or other endorsements preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience working in an outdoor construction environment, preferably with CIPP or water/sewer utilities.
• Ability to work in confined spaces.
• Ability to work overtime, nights, and weekends as needed.
• Less than 2 preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last 36 months.
• Pass a drug test and criminal history background check.
• Read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Listen and comprehend instructions accurately to learn about Insituform's products, processes, safety procedures, installation techniques, and equipment use.
• Apply common sense to solve problems in standardized situations.
