Oakley - Quality Sr Engineer (APQP)
General Function
The Senior APQP Quality Engineer will support the New Product Development process to minimize the risk of product failures both in the manufacturing process and at the end-user. Through use of continuous improvement, data analysis, and effective use of lessons learned, the Senior APQP Engineer will become an expert in product failure prevention at the early stages of development.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Work side-by-side with Design and Project Engineering towards the development of new eyewear models that meet both the expected quality requirements and the expected development timelines
- Using your manufacturing process knowledge, provide actionable feedback to the Design Engineering team on risk assessment of new models
- Effectively present information to the Manufacturing teams on the expected quality performance of new model releases
- Lead the analysis of product failures using systematic root cause analysis, problem solving techniques, and designed experiments
- Drive the usage of risk reduction tools such as FMEA and prototype testing at the appropriate project checkpoints during the New Product Development process
- Display excellent level of customer service when working with other departments
- Gain familiarity with the regulatory requirements applicable to the eyewear industry and drive adherence to those requirements
- Guide and mentor other APQP – Engineers in quality tool use, and risk analysis
- Capture and maintain a clean/safe work area
Basic Qualifications
- BS Degree in an engineering field
- 5+ years in Engineering field (Quality, Design, Manufacturing)
- 2+ years in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with MS Project and strength in managing projects with high time pressures
- Strong organizing and self-prioritization skills to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Statistical Quality Tools (i.e MSA, Cpk, SPC, Sampling Plans, Control Plans)
- Excellent customer service
- Ability to lead Corrective and Preventive Actions using a systematic approach to Root Cause Analysis
- Ability to customize and implement risk mitigation tools such as DFMEA and PFMEA for efficient use in Oakley’s high time-pressure environment
- Ability to interpret GD&T specifications in order to guide part measurement
- Excellent leadership & interpersonal skills along with the ability to work with others positively
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- ASQ CQE Certification
- Green Belt / Six Sigma Certification
- Experience with Design for Six Sigma tools
- Mold Flow Analysis software knowledge
- CAD and 3D modeling software knowledge
- Experience with plastic injection molding (Desirable)
- Chinese or Italian fluency a plus
Total Rewards
Pay Range: $109,135.00 - $140,012.50
