About the role

The O&M Field Technician 2 performs field-level activities required to operate and maintain a solar or BESS site independently. This includes repairs on inverters, trackers, BESS units, communications equipment, and general site upkeep. Field technicians must have a working knowledge of operating solar equipment and performing preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair inverters, trackers, and other systems essential to site operation.
  • Perform routine testing and repair of AC and DC electrical circuits for maximum site production.
  • Ensure site safety and security.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of potential electrical hazards and use proper LOTO procedures to safeguard the workspace before repairs or maintenance.
  • Log and record all maintenance activities into a computerized maintenance management system, HEIS 2.0.
  • Accurately report and relay information to site leads and supervision clearly and concisely.
  • Adhere to all site safety requirements, including LOTO, PPE, and safe working practices.
  • Perform site security and visual inspections of vegetation, facilities, waterways, and roads.
  • Monitor repairs performed by contractors and provide detailed breakdowns of work performed.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of operational characteristics of equipment and control devices installed in power facilities.
  • Perform additional solar and/or BESS site activities as required.

Requirements

  • Able to operate a computer to interact with onsite equipment and proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Advanced knowledge of electronic principles for detailed troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with electrical testing equipment (multimeter, IV Curve Tracer, TTR, insulation resistance, etc.).
  • Proficient in repairing and maintaining tracker systems, inverters, and weather stations.
  • 2+ years of solar experience (O&M and commissioning experience preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record to operate company vehicles.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient in SCADA system monitoring and applications used to operate power generation facilities.
  • General knowledge of OSHA, NFPA 70e, LOTO, and First Aid training.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Ability to work primarily in an outside environment.
  • Lifting items greater than 35 pounds.
  • Walking on uneven ground and navigating rough terrain.
  • Ability to handle temperature extremes.
  • Able to wear and safely utilize all required PPE.

Pay

$28.61/hr
