About the role
The O&M Field Technician 2 is responsible for performing field-level activities to operate and maintain solar or Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) sites. This role involves troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing various systems, ensuring site safety and security.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, maintain and repair inverters, trackers, and other systems essential to site operation.
- Perform routine testing and repair of AC and DC electrical circuits for maximum site production.
- Ensure site safety and security.
- Have in-depth knowledge of potential electrical hazards and use proper LOTO procedures.
- Log and record all maintenance activities into a computerized maintenance management system, HEIS 2.0.
- Accurately report and relay information to site lead and other supervisors.
- Adhere to all site safety requirements including LOTO, PPE, and safe working practices.
- Perform site security and visual inspections of vegetation, facilities, waterways, and roads.
- Monitor repairs performed by contractors and provide detailed breakdowns of work performed.
- Advanced knowledge of operational characteristics of equipment and control devices installed in power facilities.
- Perform all solar and/or BESS site activities not listed above.
Requirements
- Able to operate a computer to interact with onsite equipment and proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
- Advanced level of electronic principles knowledge to perform detailed troubleshooting.
- Electrical testing equipment knowledge (multimeter, IV Curve Tracer, TTR, insulation resistance etc.).
- Proficient in repairing and maintaining tracker systems, inverters, and weather stations.
- 2+ years solar experience (O&M and commissioning experienced preferred).
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record to operate company vehicles.
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Experience using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) programs.
- Preferred: Proficient in SCADA system monitoring and applications used to operate power generation facilities.
- General knowledge of OSHA, NFPA 70e, LOTO, and First Aid training.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
- Ability to mostly work in an outside environment.
- Lifting items greater than 35 pounds.
- Walking on uneven ground and navigating rough terrain.
- Able to handle temperature extremes.
- Able to wear and safely utilize all PPE required to perform tasks.
Compensation
$26-$35/hr
