Duties And Responsibilities
This position assesses applicants and participants of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (the "WIC Program"). Position requires approximately 40 hours of work per workweek.
- Educates, administers, and oversees WIC Program participation including continuing eligibility and applications
- Obtains, assesses, and documents anthropometric and biochemical measures
- Interviews applicants to obtain information regarding their medical history, dietary practices, and socioeconomic factors to determine their eligibility for the WIC Program
- Provides nutritional counseling and education to create strategies to improve nutritional status
- Accepts participants into the WIC Program and assigned WIC Program packages based on participant need
- Accurately documents the WIC Program or related care provided in a timely manner
- Interacts with and assists the general public via telephone, email, or in person to provide support, information, and assistance with the WIC Program
- Effectively communicates (orally and in writing) with the general public regarding the WIC Program; attends and participates in community events to promote and educate the public about the WIC Program
- Performs other duties as required or assigned
Required Education And Experience
- Bachelor Degree in Science in Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, and Community Nutrition
- At least one (1) to three (3) years of nutrition experience in a community, clinical, or food service setting

- Standard vision requirements, with or without corrective lenses
- Sometimes lifts up to ten (10) pounds
- Sometimes spends time standing, walking, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, tasting or smelling, pushing or pulling, and engaging in repetitive motions
- Frequently spends time sitting, speaking or hearing, and using hands or fingers to handle, feel, type, or text
- Occasionally exposed to some disagreeable elements (i.e., dust, heat, fumes, cold, or noise)
- Subjected to some mental effort and potential stressful situations during day to day operations
Required Skills/Abilities
- Proficient in spoken and written English
- Ability to prepare and analyze written or computer data
- Ability to express and exchange ideas through verbal communication
- Must be able to observe general surroundings and activities
- Ability to convey detailed instructions loudly, accurately, and/or quickly
