Tulsa Nursing Center in Tulsa, OK has an opportunity for a Dietary Aide to join our team on a 6 am to 2:30 pm, 4 days on / 2 days off rotating schedule.

About the role

As the Dietary Aide, you will assist the food service team in creating a positive and healthy dining experience for residents. You will ensure that meals, snacks, and hospitality items are prepared and the dining room is set up within the correct serving times. You will also work with other department staff to ensure the desired service and clean-up of meals, snacks, and hospitality areas.

Responsibilities

  • Safe Food Handling
    • Understand and follow guidelines for food handling and storage, including all raw and prepared foods.
    • Test and record temperatures of hot and cold foods; record temperature of cold food storage areas.
    • Correct or address negative results to the attention of the Nutrition Services Manager.
    • Properly discard expired or contaminated food items.
    • Properly perform and enforce hand washing, wearing of gloves, and use of hair restraints.
    • Comply with established infection control and universal precaution policies and procedures; use required protective wear when performing daily tasks.
  • Food Preparation
    • Follow and enforce methods to control cross-contamination.
    • Prepare food using standardized recipes and in the required amount specified by production worksheets and in accordance with special diet requirements.
    • Use available tools (spreadsheet, prep-at-a-glance, production guides) to ensure timely and correct meal production and portion control.
    • Properly pull, thaw, and prep foods in advance of production need.
    • Ensure foods prepared are served within meal serving hours and that quality, temperature, and appearance of food is preserved.
  • General Food Service Duties
    • Serve meals in accordance with facility methods and using correct portion control and plating/presentation guidelines.
    • Perform daily and scheduled cleaning of kitchen and equipment in accordance with established sanitation procedures.
    • Ensure work area is properly cleaned and sanitized after each task.
    • Set up and clean serving line and dining rooms after use, including rolling flatware, setting tables, maintaining tabletop condiments and centerpieces.
    • Properly store, chill, and reheat leftovers for later use.
    • Clean and arrange food storage areas.
    • Assist other department staff as needed to ensure timely production, service, and clean-up.
    • Complete kitchen close duties (PM shift) as assigned by Nutrition Services Manager or directed by cook in charge.
    • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Food handlers’ card required.
  • Previous experience preferred.
  • Fundamental understanding of sanitation, cleanliness, and personal hygiene.
  • Able to tactfully communicate with co-workers, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
  • Regular, predictable, and dependable attendance.
