Nutrition Assistant I

About the Role

As our Nutrition Assistant I, you will participate in and support all aspects of healthcare foodservice operations, working with facility staff to provide optimal nutritional care while demonstrating excellent customer service. You will assist in food preparation, tray assembly, and delivery, interact positively with patients, guests, and staff, and contribute to a smooth and efficient foodservice operation.

To be successful in this role, you will possess strong customer service skills, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to teamwork and quality in a healthcare foodservice environment.

Responsibilities

• Follow healthcare foodservice industry standards, regulations, guidelines, and procedures, including monitoring and maintaining food temperatures during cooking, holding, and storage processes.
• Prepare and serve food within guidelines of menu and dietary requirements using required kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Ensure proper meal portioning and an aesthetically pleasing presentation.
• Avoid cross-contamination of foods and adhere to personal hygiene requirements.
• Maintain proper labeling of food products and ensure storage of food, equipment, and machinery per regulations and facility guidelines.
• Perform cold food preparation.

Requirements

• One (1) year of food service or customer service experience.
• Food Handler's Permit (FHP) within 30 days or as per state requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• Cashier experience.

Penrose-St. Francis Health Services is a full-service, 712-bed acute care provider in Colorado Springs comprising Penrose Hospital, St. Francis Hospital, and St. Francis Hospital - Interquest. St. Francis Hospital opened in 2008 to keep pace with the growing needs of the Colorado Springs' community on the north side of the city. Pay

$18.00 - $26.83 per hour.
