Position Summary

The Nursing Supervisor monitors the provision of medical services that promotes resident physical health and well-being and ensures related staff training is provided per licensing guidelines.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinates medical aspects of admissions and ensures completion of annual physical exams; arranges necessary follow-up appointments and/or referrals.
  • Captures and assesses residents' medical data in a systematic and ongoing basis, ensuring the medical records are always current.
  • Maintains awareness of acute and chronic medical conditions of residents; provides treatment or consultation, as needed and communicates with physicians with appropriate.
  • Serves as a resource to staff on an ongoing basis regarding resident medical issues.
  • Participates in new client diagnostic meetings to ensure that a cohesive individual diagnosis for each client is recognized in the client's ITP.
  • Implements, monitors, and ensures the compliance of all medical service documentation.
  • Reviews and assesses Medication Administration Records (MAR’s) on a regular basis.
  • Supervises the provision of medication administration and documentation; reports any side effects of medication to physicians; reports documentation errors/omissions to appropriate staff management.
  • Collaborates with the Human Resources Department on employee performance issues and opportunities.

Treatment Team Collaboration

  • Serves as a resource to staff on an ongoing basis regarding resident medical issues.
  • Participate in new client diagnostic meetings to ensure that a cohesive individual diagnosis for each client is recognized in the client’s ITP.
  • Implement, monitor, and ensure the compliance of all medical service documentation.
  • Reviews and assesses Medication Administration Records (MAR’s) on a regular basis.
  • Supervises and provides staff training in medication administration and infection control.

Employee and Talent Selection, Engagement and Performance Management

  • Supervises and participates in the formal process to orientate, mentor, train and develop staff.
  • Leads, coaches and develops staff and provides skills training and education.
  • Provides performance management for staff on an ongoing basis and conducts formal performance evaluations.
  • Consults with the Human Resources Department on employee performance issues and opportunities.
  • Demonstrates the ability to develop a cohesive and effective team, through the use of basic supervision and teambuilding components.

Nursing Program and Internship Facilitation and Coordination

  • Sources and recruits top talent from local colleges and universities.
  • Develops an on-site curriculum for the Nurse rotational program.
  • Supervises and facilitates continuous education for internship program.

Requirements

  • Required Education And Licensure: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, Valid Registered Nurse license, Minimum of 5 years related experience; preferably in a residential setting, Valid driver’s license required. Must meet state regulating agency and Home Office driving requirements, Must successfully pass a DHS background check.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to assist staff in physical interventions and restraints of clients, Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance, Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time (2-4 hours), Must be able to twist, bend and stretch in a manner conducive to the execution of daily activities within a residential treatment facility.
