About the role

This position works 64 hours in a 2 week pay period (.8FTE) on the overnight shifts (overnight: 11pm-7:30am), 8 hour shifts, every other weekend.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the direct supervision of a RN to demonstrate excellent customer service, teamwork and communication skills with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Patient personal care/interventions.
  • Answers patient call lights promptly for both assigned and other patients.
  • Aids patient with grooming and hygiene needs, maintains skin integrity, personal comfort and population specific needs of the patient.
  • Assists with ambulation, transfer, positioning and range of motion (ROM) according to activity order and needs of the patient.
  • Implements activities of fall prevention plan as specified in plan of care.
  • Aid in specimen collection.
  • Assist in admission, transfer, discharge and post-mortem care.
  • Provide bedside 1:1 attendant support.
  • Set up and maintain orderly patient rooms.
  • Observe, collect and document health status data.
  • Obtain vital signs, intake/output recordings, weights and glucometer checks.
  • Report abnormal results to RN. Document according to documentation guidelines.
  • Contribute to a safe environment for patients, visitors and employees.
  • Report environmental risks or equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Use equipment following policies, procedures and manufacturer directions or standards.
  • Handle hazardous waste (identifies, segregates, and disposes of hazardous waste; ensures container integrity).

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required.
  • Ontrack participants must be able to obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program.
  • Intermediate Care Unit experience AND ONE Or More Of The Following:
    • Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program.
    • Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting (appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician).
    • Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program.
    • Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire.

Qualifications

Pay

The posted compensation range corresponds to the minimum and maximum pay rates outlined in your union agreement for the respective job classifications at the time of job posting. An individual's pay rate within this range may be influenced by various factors, including FTE, skills, knowledge, educational background, and qualifying experience as specified in the contract. If your role is eligible for a sign-on bonus, the bonus program that is approved and in place at the time of offer, is what will be honored.
