Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Sr. Manager, Nursing Services Educator (NSE) and team members to deliver educational programs that integrate nursing scientific and theoretical knowledge, evidence-based principles, and clinical nursing expertise.
  • Assist with systematic needs assessments and training throughout the system related to clinical practice to ensure standardized nursing competence and provision of patient care.
  • Assess new nursing and staff members’ clinical skill competence and confidence.
  • Focus on quality of patient-centered care and safety goals in all education and training projects.
  • Develop, implement, and communicate education and training programs for nurses and staff.
  • Assist in designing and implementing evaluation instruments including assignments and tests to determine effectiveness of training programs.
  • Consult with nursing leadership to identify external trainers and consultants needed for training.
  • Assist with recommendations regarding training resources, equipment and related communication needed to conduct it.
  • Career Development: Coordinate academic practice partnerships student experience program. Work collaboratively with academic partners as assigned.
  • Manage clinical site requests and schedule.
  • Assist in student nurse recruitment efforts.
  • Complete special projects as requested.
  • Teamwork: Assist in promoting a team atmosphere by treating individuals with respect and honesty and by using direct communication and active listening skills.
  • Change Management: Be open to change and actively support change. Be open to others' ideas and points of view.
  • Promoting Rogers Behavioral Health: Promote department goals as well as the mission of Rogers Behavioral Health. Communicate goals to fellow staff members. Demonstrate measurable goal achievement.
  • Compliance: Maintain department policies and procedures. Participate in in-services, seminars, and other meetings as assigned to increase involvement and awareness of Joint Commission and other regulatory agency compliance regulations as they relate to clinical nursing education operations.
  • Commitment to Excellence: Participate in committees, Rogers Operating System (ROS) team meetings, and team projects, as directed.

Education/Training Requirements

  • Master of Science Degree in nursing, or a related field, with a strong emphasis on psychiatric mental health clinical preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing, with minimum of two (2) years’ experience in psychiatric/mental health nursing or ten (10) years’ experience in psychiatric/mental health nursing in lieu of bachelor’s nursing degree required.
  • Two (2) years’ clinical education/teaching or leadership experience in a behavioral health setting strongly preferred.
  • Registered Nurse licensed by Wisconsin State Board of Nursing. License must be in good standing with the Wisconsin State Board of Nursing.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification or American Red Cross Professional Rescue is required within thirty (30) days of date-of-hire. Bi-annual recertification is required.
  • Formal training in the management of aggressive patients is required within sixty (60) days of date-of-hire. Annual recertification is required.
  • Computer proficiency required.
  • Registered Nurse - Cert
