Responsible for
- Makes and keeps care staff schedule updated as well as finds coverage to fill PTO requests.
- Reviews assignments with management team.
- Acts as on-call staff and fills in shifts when requested by the Director of Nursing Services.
- Reads staff communication records and maintains familiarity with resident records as required.
- Assists residents with activities of daily living, assistance with medications, treatments and other care while encouraging self-care and independence.
- Provides resident services as indicated on the resident’s assessment and service plan.
- Observes problems, concerns, issues with employees and/or residents and communicates them appropriately to Director of Nursing Services.
- Records resident information as required.
- Aids in the orientation of new staff members to job responsibilities.
- Acts as a lead/trainer for care staff.
- Marks for receipt of physician orders on a daily basis. Follows up with physicians on orders not returned.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to procedures for fire, life safety, disaster, security work, and other emergency procedures.
- Notifies physician, nurse and / or designated agent(s) of resident status/change as appropriate.
- Coordinates care with outside agencies.
- Participates in service plan meetings with residents and families.
- Safeguards medications to ensure residents do not run out of medications.
- Ensures all medications are placed in a timely manner.
- Ensures all doctor’s orders have been transcribed correctly in the MAR (Medication Assistance Record) and ensures all orders have been signed off by the Medication Aide.
- Completes monthly MAR reviews and follows up on any discrepancies.
- Attends and participates in required meetings and trainings.
- Performs other tasks/duties as assigned.
Experience, Qualifications & Skills
- LPN, CNA, or HCA license.
- Previous experience in Assisted Living.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Maintains a current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Pass a criminal background and fingerprint check.
- Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications.
- Has compassion and a special interest in working with the senior population.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and overtime, to meet the requirements of the position.
- Ability to relate positively and communicate appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other employees.
- Ability to creatively problem-solve in resident care.
- Maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
- Ability to work independently (with minimum supervision).
- Maintains current Food Handlers Card.
