About the Role
The Campus Director of Nursing Services helps create a joyful and vibrant community by coordinating and overseeing health and supportive services provided to residents. This role is responsible for the day-to-day clinical operations of the community to ensure residents’ healthcare needs are met, while fostering a non-clinical, resident-centered approach.
Responsibilities
- Fosters a non-clinical, resident-centered approach to planning and delivering services, supporting residents’ rights to participate in decision-making and treating residents with dignity and respect.
- Assists with Quality Assurance in collaboration with the Executive Director.
- Assesses health, functional, and psychosocial status of residents, initiating individualized service plans and proactively managing care to maximize residents’ opportunity to remain in assisted living or memory care.
- Ensures residents’ care needs are met by coordinating with community professionals, including physicians, discharge planners, nurses, home health agency staff, case managers, and state agency personnel.
- Arranges ancillary services such as pharmacy, podiatry, lab, and x-ray as needed.
- Provides or arranges intermittent or temporary nursing services for residents.
- Delegates nursing tasks as allowed under applicable nursing laws and practice acts, communicating regularly with residents, their families, and healthcare practitioners.
- Seeks additional expertise and advice to ensure residents’ needs are met and proper practices are followed.
- Provides training, supervision, and monitoring of staff delivering personal care, medication management, and other health-related services.
- Communicates regularly with residents’ families regarding healthcare needs and provides instruction for managing medical conditions.
- Problem-solves with the Campus Executive Director to manage residents with challenging needs and advises on actions for health concerns.
- Ensures all resident care is properly documented and records are completed in a timely manner.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of rules and regulations pertaining to resident care and applies new knowledge to meet changing needs.
- Leads the HCA Training program at the assigned location, meeting state requirements.
- Participates in marketing efforts by representing the residence positively to outside agencies and community social functions.
- Attends and participates in required meetings and trainings, staying current on all assigned tasks and duties.
- Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Associate Degree in Nursing, or a Diploma in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
- RN license must be in good standing.
- Minimum of 2 years working in geriatric nursing, including experience with medication administration, delivery systems, and pharmacies.
- Experience with applicable state regulations and survey knowledge is a plus.
- One year in a supervisory/management position, with experience in budgets, staff development, training, and scheduling.
- Additional coursework in management is an asset.
- Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and ability to learn company applications.
- Ability to creatively problem-solve in both resident care and employee management.
- Current CPR certification.
- Pass a Criminal Background and fingerprint check.
- Compassion and a special interest in working with the senior population.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and overtime.
- Ability to relate positively and communicate appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers, and employees.
- Maintains a clean, neat, comfortable, and safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Meets all mandatory health requirements by State regulations.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Maintains a current Food Handlers Card.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to sit and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to stand and walk.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move residents, with lifting of 25-50 pounds required occasionally.
- Frequent reaching below shoulder height.
- Occasional kneeling, stooping, and squatting.
- Standing for long periods of time.
