About the role
Responsible for the 24-hour management of a patient care unit, service, or program, ensuring high-quality care and efficient operations.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate patient care delivery and monitor quality standards.
- Develop staffing plans and oversee human resource activities including hiring, evaluating, coaching, and disciplinary actions.
- Manage budgets, including capital, operational, and personnel expenses.
- Support staff education, research, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Ensure availability of age-appropriate supplies and equipment, and staff training to meet patient needs.
- Lead projects to meet organizational and patient care goals.
- Establish and evaluate unit goals and personal performance objectives.
- Supervise a team of over 50 employees, with authority over hiring, discipline, and performance appraisals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; nursing diploma or associate degree accepted with commitment to complete a BSN/MSN within four years.
- Minimum of three years RN experience, including two in relevant clinical areas; management experience preferred.
- Current RN license recognized by the NCSBN Compact or state-specific license.
- Certification in nursing specialty preferred.
