Brief Description of Duties

The part-time lecturer position is pursuant to faculty approval as required by the CA Board of Registered Nursing, and University Personnel. Responsibilities are to teach undergraduate (BSN, RN-BSN) or graduate (MS and/or DNP) courses. Additional responsibilities may include a combination of classroom, online, and clinical teaching. Further responsibilities include a commitment to teaching and participation in evidence-based practice; maintaining clinical expertise; advising students; and effective team collaboration within the School of Nursing.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in nursing (Baccalaureate degree may be accepted with five years of clinical experience) which includes coursework in nursing and nursing education.
  • A minimum of 5 years recent clinical experience providing direct patient care.
  • Possession of, or eligibility for, RN licensure in California.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work well in teams.
  • Knowledge of the subject matter of the discipline to which the individual is assigned.
  • Ability to teach and evaluate adult learners.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching and other comparable experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year of teaching experience in a registered nurse education program, clinical instruction, precepting nursing students, or precepting new hires.

Appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and California Faculty Association.
