Lecturer Pool for Department of Nursing (AY 26-27)
About the role
The Department of Nursing, housed within the College of Health, includes 11 full-time tenure-track faculty and approximately 40 part-time lecturers who teach across classroom, lab, and clinical settings. The department is fully accredited and offers both Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degrees, serving over 400 students across pre-licensure BSN, post-licensure RN-to-BSN, and MSN programs. We are recognized for preparing highly skilled, health equity-focused nursing professionals who are deeply committed to social justice. Duties of the position
- Contribute to student learning in clinical, lab, simulation, and classroom settings (in-person and online).
- Deliver a dynamic, practice-focused curriculum that integrates health technology, simulation, and innovation in patient care.
- Teach across a broad range of nursing subjects, including Medical-Surgical Nursing, Pediatrics, Perinatal, Gerontologic, Mental Health, and Public Health/Community Health Nursing, as well as Health Assessment, Evidence-Based Practice, Leadership, and Care Coordination.
- Teaching assignments may include courses at the Hayward campus, Concord Center, and/or online.
Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher from an accredited College or University, which includes coursework in nursing or coursework relevant to healthcare and/or health profession education.
- Applicants with Bachelor's degrees and appropriate nursing experience considered.
- Current, unrestricted California RN license, or other relevant healthcare license, and one year of clinical experience providing direct patient care within the last five years.
- Teaching experience at University level preferred for all positions.
Pay
Rank and salary: Lecturer. Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience. Position appointment is subject to budgetary authorization. The salary schedule information for the Lecturer - Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges:
- Lecturer AY (Range 2): $5,507.00 - $6,677.00
- Lecturer AY (Range 3): $6,221.00 - $13,224.00
- Lecturer AY (Range 4): $6,825.00 - $14,523.00
- Lecturer AY (Range 5): $8,593.00 - $15,211.00
Schedule
The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. The Fall Semester Start & End dates are 08/17/26 – 12/18/26 and the Spring Semester Start & End dates are 01/19/27 – 05/21/27.
