Nursing Instructor
About the role
Paul D. Camp Community College is a small 2-year college in Southeast Virginia with campuses in Franklin and Suffolk and a center in Smithfield. The college offers associate degrees, certificates, career studies certificates, workforce training, community classes, and youth programs. This position is funded through a rural health transformation grant to expand nursing instruction in practical and associate degree programs.
Working with ADN nursing students in clinical and lab settings, the instructor will meet specific learning needs depending on the students’ semester. Responsibilities include all modules and orientation related to the assigned facility, positive representation of the college, and supportive engagement with students. The role supports part-time, evening, and weekend nursing programs.
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction and support to ADN nursing students in clinical, lab, and didactic settings.
- Develop and deliver modules and orientations aligned with assigned clinical facilities.
- Maintain professional representation of the college and support student learning needs.
- Collaborate with nursing faculty to facilitate effective learning experiences.
- Use or be willing to learn clinical simulation in nursing education.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Virginia.
- BSN required for lab and clinical adjuncts; MSN required for didactic instructors.
- A minimum of two years of full-time nursing experience.
- Ability to work effectively with nursing faculty and students to facilitate learning.
- Experience with or willingness to learn clinical simulation in nursing education.
- Current CPR (BLS for healthcare providers) and documentation of routine healthcare employee immunizations.
- Flexible schedule with ability to travel to both campuses and various hospitals.
- Official transcripts required prior to final offer.
Additional Considerations
- Recent post-RN licensure specialty clinical experience.
- MSN or progress toward an MSN (required for didactic instruction).
- Specialty certification.
- Recent acute care experience.
- Teaching and/or preceptorship experience.
- Familiarity with a Concept Based Curriculum.
Pay
$35 to $38.59 per hour based on experience and qualifications.
