Nursing Care Team Assistant (NCTA)

About the role

The central role of the Nurse Care Team Assistant (NCTA) is to support the Registered Nurse by performing basic patient care, patient sitter responsibilities and some non‑clinical patient care tasks, allowing the RN to focus more directly on clinical care. The NCTA provides direct patient care appropriate to age, culture, and developmental needs under the direction of the Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities

• Provide physical assistance with daily living tasks such as dressing, bathing, feeding, toileting, vital signs, catheter care, answering call lights, assisting with ambulation, turning, and ensuring patient safety.
• Obtain 12‑lead EKG, set up respiratory equipment, and perform glucometer monitoring.
• Participate in outstanding customer service and maintain respectful relationships with all patients and staff.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Currently enrolled nursing student with successful completion of the first quarter/semester of nursing school.
• Excellent bedside manner and customer service skills.
• Current BCLS certification.
• Successful completion of applicable clearances per Human Resources policy HR‑106 within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Previous nursing assistant experience preferred.
• CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) certification preferred.
• Computer skills preferred.

Skills

• Technical skills: obtaining 12‑lead EKG, setting up respiratory equipment, glucometer monitoring.
• Strong bedside manner and customer service abilities.

Pay

Premium rate: $19.80 per hour. Holiday work is paid at time and a half.

Schedule

Casual employment status only; no other status may be held. Availability to work 4, 8, or 12‑hour shifts (day, evening, night, weekends). Minimum 32 hours per month scheduled, with at least 16 hours on weekends. Weekend shifts run from 7:00 PM Friday to 7:00 AM Monday. One holiday per year must be scheduled.
