Nursing Assistant Student

About the role

The Nursing Assistant Student supports the nursing staff with various patient care activities and related nonprofessional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients.

Responsibilities

• Assists in preparing unit and patient room and bed to ensure patients are adequately and properly accommodated during their hospital stay.
• Assists with taking patient temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, blood pressure, and intake-output measurement as directed; documents information in CIS.
• Assists patients with daily living activities (e.g., bed bath, oral hygiene, shaving, dressing, back rubs, linen freshening) and provides general care (e.g., positioning patients, pre- and post-operative care, assisting with bed pan use) in a compassionate manner.
• Prepares patients for meals, serves food, and feeds patients when needed, demonstrating compassion and respect for patient needs.
• Expediently answers patient call lights and assists with personal hygiene and other activities of daily living (e.g., dressing, ambulation).
• Maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic healthcare environment by cleaning rooms and equipment, preparing for sterilization and disinfection, reporting damaged equipment, and handling linen and supplies efficiently.
• Provides input for end-of-shift reports and CIS documentation; participates in unit quality assurance programs to enhance service quality and efficiency.
• Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a CNA program and in good standing.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
