About the role
The Nursing Assistant (NA) assists nursing personnel with a variety of patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients in the outpatient setting. Performs under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Assist with clinical duties as delegated within roles and responsibilities, personalized training and competency, and needs of specific outpatient setting.
Responsibilities
- Assists with taking vital signs
- Maintains stock of medical supplies needed for nurse or physician
- Complies with all patient duties assigned
- Serves as caregiver to the patient during the scheduled work period
- Administers delegated tasks and treatments
- Records vital statistics and other basic health information
- Provides assistance with basic health care needs including rooming the patients, daily living activities; emotional and spiritual needs
- Collects non-invasive biological specimens from patients as needed
- Performs clerical work related to scheduling and documenting patient healthcare
- Prepares patient treatment areas for use; prepares and cleans medical equipment; disposes of biomedical waste in accordance with standards and policy
- Cleans patient areas or treatment rooms
Qualifications
- High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required
- Minimum of six months' experience preferred
- Experience in a clinic setting preferred
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred
- Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications
- If working in North Dakota (ND) and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, must be on the North Dakota Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry upon completion of training/competency validation or a maximum of four months from the date of initial employment
- If working in Wisconsin, must be on the Wisconsin Nurse Aid Registry with current work eligibility
Pay
16.50 - 24.00
Schedule
Day shift, PRN. Anticipated hours for this PRN/casual position is approximately once per week, 6-8 hours on high volume days. Day of the week varies. Weekly hours vary.
