Nursing Assistant (CNA) 12 Hr - PMC 2N Stepdown

About the role

We are seeking a Progressive Care CNA (PCU CNA, Stepdown CNA, or Intermediate Care Unit CNA) to work in our step-down unit at Providence Medical Center – Kansas City, KS. This role provides essential support to nurses by delivering direct patient care to patients who require close monitoring but are more stable than those in the ICU.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal hygiene and comfort tasks such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and toileting.
• Monitor and document vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature, to track patient progress and detect early signs of decline or improvement.
• Assist with patient mobility, including transfers, repositioning, and ambulation, to prevent complications and aid circulation.
• Observe patients for changes in condition and report concerns promptly to nursing staff.
• Support basic medical procedures under nurse supervision, such as collecting specimens or assisting with wound care.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment, including infection control measures.

Requirements

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificate upon hire, required.
• Current BLS certification within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• Minimum six months’ previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.
• Experience in Critical Care Unit (CCU), Telemetry (Tele), Progressive Care Unit (PCU), or other acute care areas of the hospital is encouraged.

Schedule

Full-time position with shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
