Nurse Technician RN Student - Surgical 2 Unit

Responsibilities

• Affords assistance in patient admission, discharge, and transfer.
• Measures, collects, and documents patient data according to policy and reports symptoms and changes to the Registered Nurse.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and appropriate patient care, including personal hygiene, linen changes, assisting with meals, and elimination.
• Assists with transporting and mobility needs of patients.
• Retrieves medications from the pneumatic tube system and/or pharmacy and delivers them to the nurse or places them in a secure location as directed by the nurse manager.
• Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of patient rooms and nursing station areas.
• Collaborates with physicians during examinations, treatments, and special tests, collects patient specimens, and transports them to the lab under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Utilizes equipment safely for patient care as directed by a Registered Nurse.
• Adheres to nursing standards and policies to enhance the quality and efficiency of hospital nursing services.
• Uses equipment, supplies, and resources prudently and efficiently.
• Participates in continuous quality improvement programs and reports behavioral/psychological changes to assigned nurses or charge nurses.
• Adapts care to patients' needs and developmental levels.
• Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

• Student Nurse in good standing with completion of basic patient skills within the nursing program.
• Currently enrolled in a Registered Nurse accredited School of Nursing program at the Junior or Senior level.
• Has completed their first Med/Surg clinical rotation.
• BLS Certification required.
