Responsibilities
- Partners with the RN/LPN and other healthcare team members to achieve patient care outcomes and goals of care, as identified in the plan of care.
- Performs specific tasks as directed by the RN/LPN and other healthcare team members, consulting and seeking out guidance as necessary.
- Obtains, records, and/or accurately enters data into the EMR, as identified in the PCT Scope of Practice.
- Promptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patient’s care.
- Versibly presents factual, concise, and timely information and/or patient care data to the RN/LPN, the healthcare team, patients, and/or family members in a professional manner.
Qualifications
- Enrolled in a formal nursing program.
- Completion of introductory clinical nursing course with clinical component.
- The Student Nurse Technician wishing to insert or remove IV cannulas must submit documentation (completed rubric) demonstrating he/she has successfully completed nursing coursework related to this skill.
- Six months of nursing assistant experience preferred.
- Ability to identify patients' needs and implement nursing care for a group of patients under the supervision of a RN/Clinical Instructor.
- Writes, reads, comprehends, and speaks fluent English.
- Multicultural sensitivity.
- Microsoft Office – basic computer skills.
- Customer/patient focused.
- Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions.
- Capable of continuous monitoring of up to 15 patients on one screen at one time and remaining alert at all times while on duty.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients using a microphone and headset.
- Ability to communicate with hospital staff and respond quickly to patient behavioral changes.
- Ability to use discretion and courtesy when working with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Ability to prioritize simultaneous situations.
